Service learning in UST presented thru Dominican, Thomasian lens

On September 30, 2025 (Tuesday), the seminar entitled “Advancing Service-Learning in UST: Dominican Spirit, Thomasian Mission” was held at the Central Laboratory Auditorium, providing focus to the link between instruction and service as experienced in the Thomasian community.

Delivering lectures were Office for Student Affairs Director Jaezamie V. Ong, MA (From Compliance to Commitment: Understanding Service-Learning Requirements) and Simbahayan Community Development Office Director Froilan A. Alipao, MA (Living the Mission: Service-Learning through Catholic, Dominican, and Thomasian Lenses.”

A panel discussion featuring Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Cheryl R. Peralta, DrPH, Occupational Therapy academic staff Karen S. Sagun, MSOT, MRS, and Biological Sciences academic staff Elfritzson M. Peralta, MSc enriched the discussions by presenting both the policy perspectives and the examples of sustained service learning programs that Thomasians have been engaged in.

Center for Innovative Teaching and Educational Delivery (CITED) Assistant to the Director Kim Gerald G. Medallon, PhD and Simbahayan Community Development Office Assistant Director Christian Rey Rimando, MSPT served as moderators.

The event was co-organized by the Simbahayan Community Development Office and the Center for Innovative Teaching and Educational Delivery, with support from the Office of the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, the Office of the Vice-Rector for Religious Affairs, and the Office for Student Affairs.
