VRAA Carillo presents UST’s experience of women empowerment thru higher ed. in QS conversations in India

Last February 14, 2017 (Tuesday), Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Clarita D. Carillo, PhD talked about “Higher Education as Catalyst for Women Empowerment’ in the QS in conversation in Jaipur, India. The event, organized by QS in partnership with Banasthali University with the theme “Women’s Higher Education for Leadership and Social Innovation” brought together women leaders from various higher education institutions in different parts of the world.

Following her presentation, Carillo joined Prof. Kevin Hall, University of New Castle, Australia’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, in a panel discussion. Also with Carillo in the UST delegation were Quality Management Office director Joehanna K. Ngo, MSIE, ASEAN Eng, and assistant director Nestor R. Ong, MS, ASEAN Eng., member of the QS advisory committee.

Carillo, UST’s Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs for eleven years, is the first lay female administrator to be appointed to a vice-rector’s post, with her appointment in November 2006. Carillo is a faculty member of the Department of Teacher Education of the College of Education and the Education Cluster of the Graduate School.
