Scientific papers by four Science faculty members receive NAST OSP award

The National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) awarded the 2021 Outstanding Scientific Paper to four researchers and faculty members from the UST College of Science in a ceremony held on June 1, 2021.

For “Mobility-guided Modeling of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Metro Manila” published in the Philippine Journal of Science, volume 4, issue 149, the award was given to the authors Department of Biological Sciences Visiting Professor Rev. Fr. Nicanor Austriaco, O.P., Ph.D., and Physics Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Bernhard Egwolf, Dr.rer.nat.

Prof. Thomas Edison E. Dela Cruz, Dr.rer.nat., won for his co-authored paper “Diversity and Bioactivities of Mangrove Fungal Endophytes from Leyte and Samar, Philippines” published in the journal Philippine Science Letters, volume 12.

Prof. Pia Marie S. Albano, Ph.D., received the award for her co-authored paper “RAD51 135G>C Single Nucleotide Polymorphism and Risk of Breast Cancer in Selected Filipino Cases” published in the Philippine Journal of Science, volume 4, issue 149.

The OSP Award is given annually for papers with quality content and significant contribution to science and technology published in Thompson Reuters, or SCOPUS listed journals in the Philippines within five years preceding the award.
