Assoc. Prof. Rosalyn G. Mirasol, PhD of the Department of English was elected as the new president of the Reading Association of the Philippines for a term spanning the years 2022-2023 after the election held during the National Demofest held in November 24-25, 2023, at Sorsogon Provincial Stadium. The said Demofest was attended by more than 750 teachers all over the country.
The Reading Association of the Philippines, a national affiliate of the International Literacy Association (ILA) based in Delaware, Unites States of America, is a professional association of reading educators, teachers, advocates, and parents. Its mission is to improve all aspects of the national reading programs and teaching pedagogy through teacher-training, upskilling, and research. Dr. Mirasol was the country representative to the International Development in Asia Committee of ILA.
Mirasol and Dr. Marie Grace Reoperez, RAP Secretary, 2021-2022, were the lead persons in the project proposal “Kape, Basa, Pag-asa.” This project has won a grant funding from the ILA Global Committee. Mirasol is also an academic researcher at the Research Center for Social Sciences and Education.
