Alodia Berzel A. Laguardia, a BA Journalism freshman from the Faculty of Arts and letters, recently won the Best News Article of International Press representing the Philippines under CNN, last November 13-16, 2019 in Asia World Model United Nations III (AWMUN) held in Bali, Indonesia.
Laguardia, together with her partner Amadis Triazora, an Indonesian national, was tasked to present two News bulletins and one final report from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes. Their submitted articles were evaluated by MD Shakhawat Hossain and Mayang Lestari, the Editor-in-chief and the Editor of the International press, respectively.
AWMUN is a simulation of an actual United Nations conference. Participants are tasked with solving a global issue through research, drafting, and debate to pass a suitable ‘resolution’. Carrying the theme of “The Implementations of World’s Agenda 2030”, AWMUN III presents 21 councils with four committee sessions.
A total of 1,221 delegates from all over the world were selected to represent 21 councils from the General Assembly, Economic and Social Council, Regional Bodies and Crisis Committee, and the Specialized Agencies where the International press with 22 journalists of international News channels reside.
