UST forges links with Analytics Association of the Philippines for data science and analytics education

With the aim of furthering the cause of data science and analytics education, the University of Santo Tomas, through the College of Science’s Department of Mathematics and Physics, forged a partnership with the Analytics Association of the Philippines (AAP).

The Memorandum of Agreement, signed on September 21, 2018, stipulates areas of cooperation between the two institutions. Among the services to be rendered by AAP are the: 1) provision of assistance in strengthening Data Science and Analytics (DSA) in UST, through intra-UST events, and resource speakers, creation of marketing materials for DSA; 2) provision of assistance in faculty and educator DSA training, through AAP-certified DSA trainings, recommended minimum requirements for teaching analytics, and introduction to opportunities for research and development; and 3) provision of assistance in developing UST’s analytics curriculum.

By virtue of the partnership, UST will become a member of the AAP and facilitate all AAP-related activities within UST. Likewise, a faculty coordinator will be tasked to handle all AAP-related concerns as the partnership progresses.

The agreement is valid for an initial three years, from August 1, 2018 to July 31, 2021.
