UST, Department of Tourism Region VIII sign MOU on heritage mapping and documentation

A memorandum of understanding was signed by the University of Santo Tomas, through the initiative of the UST Graduate School – Center for Conservation of Cultural Property and Environment in the Tropics (USTGS-CCCPET), and by the Department of Tourism – Region VIII on September 5, 2019.

The MOU is expected to generate meaningful collaborations in heritage and tourism projects in Eastern Visayas, such as assistance in the nomination of Samar Island Natural Park to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, cultural mapping activities in various districts and towns, and documentation of built heritage structures in the region.

The MOU signing was attended by the DOT Regional Director Ms. Karina Rosa Tiopes, UST Graduate School Dean Michael Anthony C. Vasco, USTGS-CCCPET Director Eric B. Zerrudo, PhD, and UST College of Tourism and Hospitality Management Dean Gezzez Giezi G. Granado, DCL.
