UST Analytical Services Laboratory is first Philippine university to receive certification from board of chemistry

The UST Analytical Services Laboratory of the Research Center for Natural and Applied Sciences received its Certificate of Authority to Operate Chemical Laboratory on October 16, 2019, during the 3rd National Conference of Chemical Laborites at Century Park, Manila. The certificate was awarded only to laboratories inspected by the Board of Chemistry and found to be fully compliant with Republic Act No 10657, otherwise known as the “Chemistry Profession Act”. Only firms, corporations, government agencies, academic institutions duly authorized by the Board, that hold a valid certificate may operate a chemical laboratory or engage in the practice of chemistry or chemical analysis in the Philippines. 

The University of Santo Tomas is the first University in the Philippines to receive such certification.The certificate was received by the RCNAS Director, Dr. Bernard John V. Tongol, together with Dr. Christina A. Binag, the Manager of the UST Analytical Services Laboratory, from Dr. Adoracion P. Resurreccion (2nd from left) and Ms. Ma. Theresa C. Cayton (leftmost), the Chairman and Member of the Board of Chemistry, respectively.
