Tourism Management students bag awards in Youth for Tourism Conference 2020

BS Tourism Management students of the UST College of Tourism and Hospitality Management won awards in the University of the Philippines – Asian Institute of Tourism’s The Youth for Tourism Conference 2020: Advancing Tourism Growth in the Time of Pandemic” via Zoom last November 21, 2020.

The team of Ms. Isabel Angela E. dela Dingco (3TOM4), Ms.Henrietta SJ. Mariano (4T1), Ms.Kimberly Mae Z. Simangan (4T1), Mr. Antonio S. Tiong III (3TOM2), and Ms. Ma. Vanessa Anne D. Valencia (3TOM4)won the Destination Marketing Plan Competition, besting twelve other teams. The UST-CTHM team was assigned to create a comprehensive and relevant marketing plan for Nueva Vizcaya to help the destination revive its tourism industry that was badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Through extensive research and study, the team focused on Farm Tourism as their Marketing Plan, seeing it as an opportunity for the destination.

The team received word on October 30, 2020 that they were one of the three finalists. After the Nationwide Elimination Round, the team prepared for a video presentation and engaged in a live question and answer session last November 21, 2020, paving the way for them to be declared CHAMPION for the Destination Marketing Plan Competition. The students were coached by Assistant Professor Christine Concepcion C. Fajardo and Mr. Arnulfo Ricardo A. Butiong, MMC.

Likewise, Ms. Mariztel Nicole A. Adan (3TOM5), Ms. Mary Maureen C. Cucio (3TOM5), and Mr. Al Reile S. Dela Torre (3TOM8) were declared 2nd runner up in of the Travel Brochure Making Competition with the province of Catanduanes as their subject. The students were coached by Assistant Professor Christine Concepcion C. Fajardo, Mr. Wyett White T. Lee, and Mr. Arnulfo Ricardo A. Butiong, MMC.
