Tangcuangco receives CHED Grant for UCLA musculoskeletal ultrasound workshop

College of Rehabilitation Sciences faculty member Mr. Lyle Patrick D.
Tangcuangco qualified for the Professional Advancement Grant by the
Commission on Higher Education (CHED) allowing him to attend the “8th
UCLA Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Course and Hands-on Workshop 2018 With Optional Full-Day Interventional Cadaver Lab” held in Santa Monica UCLA Hospital, California, USA.

The first two days of the workshop focused on the review of Musculoskeletal (MSK) anatomy pertinent to ultrasound. Basic MSK ultrasound technique, and its strengths and weaknesses as an imaging modality were discussed.

The workshop also introduced the spectrum of MSK ultrasound-guided procedures, while the Cadaver Lab Workshop held on the third day subsequently focused on various MSK interventions.
As a result of the MSK workshop, Tangcuangco and PT Department Chair
Assoc. Prof. Valentin Dones III, Ph.D., hope to develop a program that will introduce and integrate MSK in the practice of physical therapy in the local setting.

This can also be a venue for conducting transnational research, especially since there is still a gap in the knowledge of fascia and MSK.
