Research on Protein C of E. coli as biomarkers for colorectal cancer detection wins Best Paper award in microbiology convention

The research paper “Gram Negative Outer Membrane Protein C (OmpC) of E. coli and Fusobacterium nucleatum Fap2 Protein as Potential Biomarkers for the Early Detection of Colorectal Cancer” won the Best Paper Competition (Professional Category) during the 46th Annual Convention of the Philippine Society of Microbiology, held from July 6-7, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.

The authors were Asst. Prof. Michael L. Bahrami-Hessari, MSc and Asst. Prof. Pia Marie S. Albano, PhD of the Department of Biological Sciences; Prof. Maria Cristina Ramos, PhD of the Department of Chemistry of the College of Science, Assoc. Prof. Teresa Sy-Ortin, MD of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Claudine Afable, Patricia Joyce O. Belza, Karen Y. Dy, Scott Justin Lee, Lhaura May Somera, M.C. Corpuz, Nichole Manrique, and Mr. Leonardo A. Guevarra, Jr. of the Department of Biochemistry.
