VERGARA, Irene Salve J.

Assistant Professor Irene Salve Deduque Joson-Vergara, MD, MPH, FPCP, FPCCP, holds the position of Assistant Professor 4 in the Department of Medicine and the Department of Clinical Epidemiology at UST Faculty of Medicine & Surgery. Her significant administrative roles include serving as Supervisor for Medicine 1, Supervisor for Clinical Epidemiology, and Coordinator for the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Unit and Smoking Cessation Program at UST Hospital. Dr. Joson-Vergara’s diverse scholarly and research interests encompass Pulmonary and Critical Care, Clinical Epidemiology, Public Health, Smoking Cessation, Tobacco Control, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), and Medical Education. Her extensive education and training include a Master in Public Health from the University of Leeds and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowships. Recognized as the Most Outstanding Fellow in Training (MOFIT) for 2013 by the Philippine College of Chest Physicians, Dr. Joson-Vergara is a Fellow and Diplomate of both the Philippine College of Chest Physicians and the Philippine College of Physicians. Currently serving as a Medical Specialist III in the Department of Internal Medicine at Quirino Memorial Medical Center, she contributes significantly to healthcare and education.
