John Christian “JC” Cabasal Valeroso is the current Chair of the Secondary Education Department of the College of Education and a Research Associate at the Research Center for Social Sciences and Education, University of Santo Tomas. His academic expertise cuts across Social Sciences and Social Studies (undergraduate programs) and Development Studies (MA and Ph.D.). His Master’s thesis entitled REACHING OUT THE UNREACHED: A Qualitative Assessment of the Quality and Accessibility Aspects of the Project Applied Academic for Excellence (APEX) and his Dissertation entitled RECONCILING ENVIRONMENT AND EDUCATION TO ADDRESS VULNERABILITY: The Case of the Island Communities of Babatnin and Pamarawan of Malolos, Bulacan were graded as Benemeritus by the UST Graduate School.
JC was President of the Arts and Letters Student Council and the Captain ball of the UST Graduate School, Civil Law Football Club, and GalaStars Football Club. He is also a bronze awardee for being included in the Dean’s list, and he was part of the exchange student teacher’s program (2007-2008) of the University of Santo Tomas – Hanyang University (South Korea) and a Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) board passer (September 2008). He finished his Ph.D. program Cum Laude and a St. Albertus Magnus awardee for Outstanding Research work. His current research works are focused on education and island communities. He is a member of the Philippine Society for the Study of Nature (PSSN) and Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE) and currently managing his band, Hey Jace.
