RAMIREZ, Marcellus Francis L.

DR. MARCELLUS FRANCIS RAMIREZ finished his medical degree at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. He completed an Internship, a Residency in Internal Medicine, and a Fellowship in Adult Cardiology at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital. He further subspecialized in cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacing at the National Heart Center Singapore and completed his managerial Degree in Hospital Administration at the UST Graduate School. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and Head of Arhythmia Services and the Electrophysiology Laboratory and Pacemaker Clinic at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital. He is the former Medical Director and Chairman of the Department of Medical Education and Research of the University of Santo Tomas Hospital and the former Director of the Fellowship Training Program of the Section of Cardiology. He presently sits as the Editor-in-Chief of the Philippine Journal of Cardiology. He serves on the Asia Pacific editorial board of the Journal of Arrhythmia and Journal of Medicine University of Santo Tomas. He is a consultant Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist at UST Hospital, The Medical City, and Chinese General Hospital. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Heart Rhythm Society, a member of the Heart Rhythm Society USA and the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society, and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Philippine College of Physicians, and the Philippine College of Cardiology. He is the past Chair of the Philippine Heart Association Council on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and a former representative of the Resuscitation Council of Asia.

  • Dr. Ramirez has published papers on multiple topics in medicine, cardiology, and cardiac electrophysiology dealing with different conditions from cardiac arrest, arrhythmia, cardiac implantable electronic devices (pacemakers and defibrillators), atrial fibrillation, heart failure, coronary artery disease, and atherosclerosis, electrocardiology and electrocardiography.
