FLORES, Alvin Rey F.

Alvin Rey F. Flores, RMT, MLS(ASCPi)SM, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Medical Technology of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Santo Tomas. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology magna cum laude from the University of Santo Tomas and a Masters Degree in Public Health (Microbiology-Parasitology Track) from the College of Public Health of the University of the Philippines-Manila. He garnered First Place during the September 2009 Philippine Medical Technology Licensure Examination by the Professional Regulations Commission. Asst. Prof. Flores is also certified as an International Medical Technologist and Specialist in Microbiology by the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Before entering the academe, he worked as a staff medical technologist at the UST Hospital and as a research assistant at the College of Public Health, UP Manila. 

Asst. Prof.  Flores is also a contributing member of the American Society for Microbiology, the Philippine Association of Schools of Medical Technology and Public Health, and the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists. 

Asst. Prof. Flores has a significant number of publications ranging from laboratory manuals in Parasitology, Bacteriology, Serology-Immunology, Mycology-Virology, and Histology, as well as publications in peer-reviewed international journals. He is also one of the editors of the Module on Integrated Microscopy of Medical Technologists, funded by the Department of Health in cooperation with UP-Manila College of Public Health.

He teaches medical technology courses such as Microbiology and Parasitology, Community and Public Health, Blood Banking, Histology, and Serology-Immunology. He is also a Medical Technology Board Examination reviewer
