Assoc. Prof. Anthony James C. Bautista, PME, MBA, PhD, is a faculty researcher in Agricultural Robotics, Precision Farming, and the Development of Service Robots at the University of Santo Tomas. His notable works include the development of a GPS-guided Autonomous Hand Tractor and developing a deployment system for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles used for water quality monitoring.
Dr. Bautista has received prestigious awards for his significant efforts and leadership, including the J. Amado Araneta Foundation Living Heroes for Technology and Ginebra Lalaban Ako Awards. These recognitions were granted in acknowledgment of his role in the design and development of the LISA (Logistic Indoor Service Assistant) Telepresence Robot during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. He also received the Gregorio Y. Zara Award for Applied Research from the Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology. Dr. Bautista has also been distinguished as one of Asia’s most outstanding researchers for 2022.
Beyond his research endeavors, Dr. Bautista actively advocates the use of robotic technology to address real-world challenges. His commitment to inspiring the youth is evident in his recognition with the Community Outreach Award during the 2022 eLearning Forum Asia, highlighting his exemplary practices within the eLearning communities in the Philippines.
