Associate Professor Azares, a Registered Chemist by profession, has been a faculty member of the College of Education since 1995, facilitating chemistry lectures and laboratory courses. Before becoming a teacher, she was designated from a Laboratory Assistant to a Research Chemist in several private and government institutions. She earned her Master of Science in Chemistry at UST (1997), where she was awarded to do part of her graduate thesis experimentation at the University of Queensland in Australia (1995) by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD). This was funded by the UNESCO International Exchange Program and the Government of Australia. Ms. Azares became the National Secretary of the Philippine Association of Chemistry Teachers (PACT) from 2009 to 2013. She is currently one of the Board Members of the Philippine Environmental Mutagen Society (PEMS). She has been involved in local accreditation of the college’s programs through the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities-Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) as overall Chair. She was a section contributor for an ASEAN Book on Food (2020), a Section Contributor and Consultant for the UST Laboratory Safety Manual (2019), and a contributor to some laboratory manuals for chemistry courses.
