ANDRES, Stephanie C.

Dr. Stephanie C. Andres, MD, FPCP, FPSN is an Assistant Professor in the Department ofMedicine at the royal and pontifical University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine andSurgery (UST-FMS) in Manila, Philippines. She completed her medical education in the same institution and did her residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Adult Nephrology in UST Hospital. In 2004, she received further training in clinical nephrology, renal pathology and kidney transplantation at the New-YorkPresbyterian Hospital, USA. She returned to UST Hospital to serve as the Head of theTransplant Program since 2006, and Training Officer of the Fellowship Training Program in Adult Nephrology in 2010-2021, after which she became a member and in 2024 chair of the Philippine Specialty Board in Adult Nephrology. In 2022, she worked as a member of the Technical Working Group for the Continuous Development and Monitoring ofDOH Renal Care and Transplant Centers, Department of Health. Dr. Andres is a trailblazer in establishing a partnership with the Donation andTransplantation Institute of the University of Barcelona in running the Organ DonationInnovative Strategies for Southeast Asia, a postgraduate certificate course on deceased organ donation in UST-FMS.She actively participates in local and international scientific meetings and conferences as a speaker, i.e. Congress of the Asian Society of Transplantation in 2017 and 2021. As aFellow of the Philippine College of Physicians and Philippine Society of Nephrology and a member of the International Society of Nephrology, she has worked in several committees in the service of the medical community. She is an Active Staff and holds regular clinics in UST Hospital and Delos Santos Medical Center.

  • She has authored and co-authored eleven scientific manuscripts on the topics of kidney transplantation, glomerular diseases, acute kidney injury and hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
  • Since 2019, she is the principal and sub- investigator in five international clinical trials investigating novel therapies for IgA Nephropathy.
  • She is a peer reviewer of the Journal of the ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies in 2021.
