ANDAYA, Pilar Agnes G.

Dr. Agnes G. Andaya obtained her medical degree at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Andaya had her pediatric residency at the University of Santo Tomas Hospital (USTH). During her residency, she presented case reports and research papers that won awards at national and international conferences. She completed her fellowship training in allergology and immunology at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Andaya is a Professor 2 at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. She currently has 62 publications in local, national, and international journals. She is a major contributor to the chapter on allergic diseases in the textbook Fundamentals of Pediatrics. She was awarded the UST Silver Series Award for Research twice, the UST Professorial Award, and the UST Dangal Award twice. She was once a president-elect of the Philippine Society of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology, head of the USTH Section of Allergy, and editor-in-chief of the Philippine Journal of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Dr Andaya is an established and highly skilled physician with over 40 years of experience in pediatrics, allergology, and immunology. She has been practicing at USTH and St. Luke’s Medical Center, Quezon City. She is the head of the USTH Children’s Asthma Unit. Her practice focuses on performing allergy skin tests, patch tests, immunotherapy, and challenge procedures. Dr. Andaya holds certification from the Philippine Pediatric Society and the Philippine Society of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology.

  • Dr. Andaya has published 55 researches which focus on allergen sensitization in allergic diseases, the association of allergen sensitization with lung function and disease severity, effects of clarithromycin, CM-glucan, bovine colostrum, zinc, spirulina, and lactobacillus reuterii as a supplement in asthma control.
