Assoc. Prof. John Manuel R. Kliatchko, PhD, academic staff of the Department of Behavioral Science and Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Letters, was elected Trustee-at-Large of the Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP) in its annual convention in Cebu City.
Kliatchko will serve another three-year term, from 2025-2028. In an interview with the Communications Bureau, he shared that the fresh term will allow him “contribute to the final crafting of the Career Progression and Specialization Program’s Resolution and Level Alignment Matrices,” which, once approved, will “chart well-defined pathways for the professional growth and career development of psychologists and psychometrician…aligning their qualifications with local and international standards.” He also worked on the 2022 version of the PAP’s Code of Ethics, and is actively advocating for the promotion of ethical practice of the profession to increase trust and confidence among stakeholders.
For his part as an academic staff and a school administrator, Kliatchko said that he will “continue [to advocate] strongly for quality improvement in the curriculum and instructional delivery in the country’s psychology programs.” Kliatchko, who served as Coordinator of the University’s BA Behavioral Science program, is a member of the Commission on Higher Education’s Regional Quality Assurance Team.
As a human resource and organizational development practitioner, Kliatchko said he will work toward “helping find solutions to commonly found barriers to effective operations, not only within the organization, but for the general community being served by PAP.”
The newly re-elected trustee thanked his support base, composed of former students, colleagues, and the staff of the PAP Office, with whom he has worked since first becoming a Board Member in 2014. He also thanked past PAP Presidents, whom he considered as mentors who “showed the best example of selfless leadership and service orientation.”
