Estrella of CICS develops web app for UNESCO-funded literacy projects in sustainable agriculture

College of Information and Computing Sciences (CICS) faculty member Assoc. Prof. Noel Estrella designed and developed a web application that will provide content and information management for some projects and events of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as applied in his hometown, Brgy. Batia, Bocaue, Bulacan.

Estrella published his research article in the International Journal of Economics, Commerce, and Management, on December 16, 2021. Titled “SOAP” or Sustainable Organic Agricultural Project, the software enables various stakeholders to upload relevant and timely digital content that eventually will enhance research databases and search engines. This software also finds practical applications in the fields of education, government, finance, health, and e-commerce, serving as repositories for videos, images, and documents in easy to retrieve models and modules.

The application can also function as a Content Management System (CMS) that facilitates seamless data processing and input from several end users. Additional functions include allowing the users to receive notifications from new users, updates from projects and messages; update the profile of the admin, team lead and other identified members; upload documents, charts, pictures, and videos for the project updates; record and view all projects and events of family literacy team of the different countries, which includes articles, pictures, documents, and videos; and allow guest users to view events of the family literacy team.
