Dean Marcelo of Engineering elected President of Philippine Association of Engineering Schools

Prof. Philipina A. Marcelo, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, was elected as the National President of the Philippine Association of Engineering Schools, in its general meeting last October 27, 2016 (Thursday).

Formerly known as PATE way back in 1955, the Philippine Association of Engineering Schools is now a thriving network for engineering education in the Philippines.

Marcelo, who rose from the PAES ranks as board member and first vice-president, has been Dean of the Faculty of Engineering since 2013. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in chemical engineering from UST and the University of the Philippines – Diliman, respectively. She earned her doctorate degree in Food Science and Technology from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, as a Fulbright scholar. She is a research associate of the Research Center for the Natural and Applied Sciences under the Food Technology program.
