BS Civil Eng’g. students receive “Earthquake-Resistant Structure” certificate in Taipei contest

BS Civil Engineering students were recognized during the September 10-11, 2016 Introducing and Demonstrating Earthquake and Engineering Research in Schools (IDEERS) 2016 contest in Taipei, Taiwan, for coming up with a model of an “Earthquake-Resistant Structure” that can withstand an intensity of 7+ and carrying 12+ kg of dead load.

According to the British Council website, the IDEERS was developed by the University of Bristol, which wanted to use the shaking table competition to communicate the excitement and challenge of earthquake engineering research to young people.

Recognized were Akira Q. Nakaegawa, Lorenz Edward V. Tamayo, Mariama Ivory B. Rabang, Loraine M. Dasig, advised by Mr. Ryan A. Ramirez.
