Description

Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology is a four-year program consisting of general education and professional courses. The fourth-year level is the one-year internship program in a Commission on Higher Education (CHED)-accredited training laboratory, with rotational duties in different sections, such as Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunohematology (Blood Banking), Immunology and Serology, Urinalysis and other Body Fluids (Clinical Microscopy), Parasitology, Histopathologic/Cytological Techniques, and other emergent technologies.

This program has the following PILOs:

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in applying Medical Technology concepts, principles, and functional skills, consistent with local and global standards, in real-world settings.
  2. Exhibit leadership and collaboration in the performance of laboratory diagnostic work for efficient healthcare delivery.
  3. Demonstrate analytical and critical abilities in identifying and resolving health problems and issues by applying various research approaches.
  4. Manifest Christian values and moral principles reflective of the Thomasian identity, in responsibly generating innovative knowledge to improve the quality of healthcare delivery through research and inquiry.
  5. Adhere strictly to ethical work standards in the performance of laboratory procedures, geared toward service to the society, particularly the poor and the marginalized.
  6. Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing the different communication platforms as applied to the Medical Technology profession in both local and international contexts.
  7. Demonstrate a critical understanding of the concept of globalization and an ability to apply this in the larger context of international and global medical technology practice.

The University of Santo Tomas provides student services that cater to academic, spiritual, and wellness concerns of students. These support units are found in the different parts of the campus and can be accessed by Thomasians.
