Alcaraz is new ASEAN Architect

College of Architecture mentor Asst. Prof. Demetrio C. Alcaraz, Jr., has been accepted into the ASEAN Architect Registry and was conferred the title of ASEAN Architect for Heritage Conservation during the Third ASEAN Architects Congress held at the Conrad Hotel Pasay City on April 10, 2019.

Alcaraz was recognized for his work in conservation, noteworthy of which are for the reconstruction of the second monastery of San Agustin Church in Intramuros, one of the Philippines’ UNESCO-inscribed World Heritage sites, and the renovation of the sanctuary of the 200-year old San Roque Cathedral in Caloocan.

Alcaraz is currently a faculty researcher under the UST Research Center for Culture, Arts, and the Humanities. He is also the Principal Architect of D. C. Alcaraz, Jr. & Associates.

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the College of Architecture & Fine Arts of UST in 1975 and in 2008, finished his Master of Science in Architecture degree program, graduating cum laude at UST Graduate School. He is a member of the United Architects of the Philippines, Quezon City Chapter, and the International Council of Museums.
