Third-year Accountancy students of the University of Santo Tomas AMV-College of Accountancy, namely Randel Christian Amora, Charlene Mae B. Jusi, and Ma. Carmella G. Valdez, bagged the championship title in the first-ever EXCEED 2021 Business Case Competition held last April 24, 2021 via Zoom.
The Business Case Competition (BCC) is one of EXCEED 2021’s three accounting challenges and tested the participating teams’ skills and abilities in different strategic areas of business, through crafting a business proposal and the concepts they learned in the undergraduate program.
The team stood out in the elimination and semi-final rounds of the competition held earlier in March 2021, and clinched a spot in the finals round with other four competing universities. In the final round, the participating teams were tasked to come up with a business proposal comprising an Industry Analysis, Company Analysis, Strategy Analysis, Alternative Courses of Action and Big Idea. The teams were given two hours to craft their written proposal and another 45 minutes to prepare for the oral presentation.
Other than the championship title, the UST team also bagged all the special awards: the Best Written Proposal and Best Oral Presentation. Representatives from the Far Eastern University and the University of the East earned the second and third places, respectively. Winners received cash prizes, medals, and certificates.
EXCEED was organized by the De La Salle University. The event gathered the best and brightest accounting students in the country. This year’s theme is “Reshaping Business Dynamics, Catalyzing Post-Pandemic Nation-Building”.
