The University of Santo Tomas welcomed the largest first batch—11 fellows—of European Union SHARE scholars last January 16, 2017 (Monday), through an orientation and mini-Thomasian Welcome Walk in the campus. Assoc. Prof. Karen S. Santiago, PhD, Associate Director of the Office of International Relations and Programs, gave the welcome address and introduction to the students, who were likewise oriented on policies of the Office of the Registrar by Mr. Reynaldo Isidro; the Library services by Ms. Arlene Matias; and on dormitory concerns by Mr. Patrick Blanco.
The EU-SHARE program, which aims to promote, among others, student mobility across the Association of Southeast Asian Nation—funds the studies of fellows for one whole term, with credit.
UST will host the 11 fellows from January to May 2017, in which the scholars will be taking courses in their degree programs.
