During the same event, UST Alumni Association, Inc. President Evelyn A. Songco, PhD focused attention on the three values immortalized atop the UST Main Building: Faith, Hope, and Love. She asked the new alumni chapter to live out these values in their community. Fr. Dagohoy, for his part, said that the alumni chapter was made up of the “faces of the University” who will serve as role models to future Thomasians in the southern Philippines.

In line with the excitement brought about by the ongoing construction of UST General Santos, Mayor Ronnel Rivera reiterated his support for UST, whose Mindanao campus will open in 2021.

The induction ceremony was the centerpiece of a three-day alumni activity participated in by Fr. Dagohoy, the UST AAI, and the UST Office of Alumni Relations, led by Director Fredeswindo R. Medina, MACHS. The visit included a helicopter tour of the 80-hectare UST General Santos City lot, and a courtesy call to Mayor Rivera, whose City Economic Management and Cooperative Development Office representative talked about the economic development programs and business opportunities for GenSan.

The visit likewise included a chance for the OAR and UST AAI representatives to mingle with the GenSan locals, specifically during the opening ceremony of the 2018 Tuna Festival dubbed as “Mega Tuna Fun in Metro GenSan.”
