UST Sentro sa Salin at Araling Salin (UST SSAS) gathered 17 Thomasian educators for its Salinsanay: Batayang Pagsasanay para sa Pagsasaling Teknikal held from October 24 to December 9, 2022.

The pioneer university-wide translation hub in the country introduced the educators, aspiring to become professional translators, to the basic concepts of translating texts written in English to fit the Filipino context, especially in the field of technical translation.

Selected educators from the College of Education, Faculty of Arts and Letters (AB), National Service Training Program (NSTP), and Junior High School Department underwent a 40-hour training with synchronous and asynchronous sessions.

Attendees learned through video lectures by Mr. John Enrico Torralba, head of Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino–Sangay ng Salin; Mr. Rene Roy Cagalingan, Senior Language Researcher, Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino, Assoc Prof. Wennielyn Fajilan, UST SSAS chair, and Asst. Prof. Alvin Ringgo Reyes, former Departmento ng Filipino chair.

Live workshops were facilitated by Fajilan and Mr. Mark Anthony Angeles, a senior member of the unit.

After completing the program, the participants received Sertipikasyon ng mga Propesyonal na Tagasalin ng UST and became part of UST SSAS’s Registri ng mga Tagasalin.
