UST Pharmacy joins International Research Network Initiative 2020

The Department of the Pharmacy under the UST Faculty of Pharmacy, led by its Dean Prof. Aleth Therese L. Dacanay, Ph.D., joined the International Research Network Initiative 2020, which was held virtually on December 2, 2020, organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia.

This initiative will bring together the UST Faculty of Pharmacy, UiTM, and other partnering universities, which include Bandung Institute of Technology (Indonesia), Gadjah Mada University (Indonesia), and Mahidol University (Thailand), for an online research networking session and possible research collaboration.

The objectives of the International Research Network Initiative are: (1)

     to showcase research opportunities available at each participating university, i.e., international grants, facilities, services, postgraduate opportunities, student exchange, journals and conferences/ webinars, and (2) to form research interest groups comprising of experts in the areas of chemistry, life sciences, pharmacy practice, pharmaceutics, and pharmacology.

            Research presenters from the UST Faculty of Pharmacy were: Dean Dacanay, Ph.D.(Practice of Pharmacy), Prof. Mary Jho-Anne T. Corpuz, Ph.D. (Pharmaceutical Chemistry), Prof. Ross D. Vasquez, Ph.D.(Life Sciences), Assoc. Prof. Agnes L. Castillo, Ph.D.(Pharmacology), Asst. Prof. Gina C. Castro, Ph.D. (Pharmaceutics), and Asst. Prof. Jay P. Jazul (Pharmacy Practice).

          Faculty Secretary Asst. Prof. Renz Kenneth G. Cadiang, discussed the international grants, facilities, services, postgraduate opportunities, student exchange, journals, and conferences/ webinars available in the university under the combined session.

          The event was participated in by faculty members, researchers and postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students from the five institutions, including the UST The Graduate School Pharmacy and Medical Technology cluster.
