UST holds annual Lenten Recollection

In observance of Lenten season, the University, through the Office of the Vice-Rector for Religious Affairs and the Center for Campus Ministry, organized a University-wide Recollection on March 30, 2023 at the Santisimo Rosario Parish.

Rev. Fr. Ramon Claro G. Mendez, O.P. of the Santo Domingo Convent delivered his talk and presided over the Eucharistic Celebration.

In his homily, fr. Mendez gathered salient points from the Philippine Synodal Report, highlighting the place of the Christian family in the Church’s synodal journey.

Moreover, he emphasized the custom of removing slippers before entering the house as an expression of reverence before the home as a sacred place. Thus, he reminded the Thomasian community of the beauty and importance of the family, which the Pope describes as “the most beautiful thing that God made”.

The theme of this recollection was “’Listen to Him’ (Mt 17: 5): Following Christ on the Synodal Path,” in reference to Pope Francis’s Message for Lent 2023.
