UST, employees’ union ink new collective bargaining agreement for increased salaries, benefits

The University of Santo Tomas, led by Acting Rector Very Rev. fr. Isaias Antonio D. Tiongco, O.P., JCD, inked a new five-year Collective Bargaining Agreement with the members of the support staff, represented by the Samahang Manggagawa ng UST, or the employees’ union.

The agreement, covering the years 2021-2026, provides wage increases across the board for the first three years, along with allowances and material benefits. Incentives for passing licensure exams will also continue to be given along with other bonuses.

The agreement was reached following negotiations between the University Management Panel and the Union Panel. The Management Panel was composed of Human Resource Department Director Maureen H. Gelle-Jimenez, PhD, Graduate School of Law Dean Jacqueline O. Lopez-Kaw, DCL, Office for Student Affairs Officer-in-Charge Jaezamie V. Ong, Assistant Vice-Rector for Finance fr. Rodel S. Cansancio, O.P., Legal Aid Clinic Counsel Elgin Michael C. Perez, and Internal Auditor Christine C. Nicolas. Meanwhile, the Union Panel was composed of President Dan Paul A. Patricio, Marilou M. Maristela, Edel Mae G. Cuartero, and Johannes F. Cortez.
