UST CTHM teams win top awards during National Food Showdown 2023

The UST College of Tourism and Hospitality Management won different culinary and tourism-related competitions during the 14th National Food Showdown 2023 in Baguio City on September 21-23, 2023. The event, organized by the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB), saw several institutions joining the different competition categories. The event is also part of the celebration of the World Tourism Month and Baguio City’s 114th Charter Anniversary.

For the Napkin Folding category, Tamika O. Okubo won Gold with Ms. Mary Angel D. Elacion as the coach.

For the Travel and Tours category, Jhezel Reign M. Vergara and Simon Joshua Tinsay won Gold. Mr. Arnulfo Ricardo A. Butiong, Ms. Catherine C. Mondejar, and Ms. Maria Christina Dolor E. Villarin were the coaches.

Mikaela Margaret N. Dimaano brought home Silver for the Baby Cakes category. Ms. Kathlyn Tisha G. Ortaliz, Ms. Maria Karmel Grace A. Labay, and Mr. Kristian Kristoffer A. Roque served as their coaches.

Maureen Joyce M. Teodoro won Silver for Bellman’s Hour, under the guidance of Mr. Juanito Luis S. Reyes as coach.

Angelo Gabrielle J. Lati and Danica A. Lara won Silver for the Best Modern / Traditional Recipe (Pinakbet). Their coaches were Mr. Reinald A. Andaya and Ms. Ramona Olga D. Ko

For Coffee Concoctions, Louis Anjello A. Cheng, with Ms. Kathleen Fernandez and Ms. Mary Angel D. Elacion as coaches, won Silver for the Student category, while Allane Angela M. Manuel, with Ms. Kathleen Fernandez as coach, won Bronze for the Professional category.

Kyle Alexandra A. Mararac, Krishna Andrei O. Martinzo, Aaron R. Pajo, Andrea Marie P. Siapoc, and Solomon M. Santiago, with Asst. Prof. Maria Concepcion A. Ang and Mr. John Jerick C. Santos as coaches, won SIlver for Events Planning.

Mathew R. Peñarroyo won SIlver for the Floral Design Centerpiece category, with Mr. Karl R. Baroro as coach.

            Rod Fredric Villamarin’s Kakanin Flambe won Silver for Panghimagas. Ms. Maria Theresa B. Resurreccion and Mr. Reinald A. Andaya served as coaches.

Daniel V. Dalipe, Sofia Angela M. Paja, and Adrian G. Zapata won SIlver for Klasika Moderna Kulinarya. Mr. Reinald A. Andaya and Ms. Ramona Olga D. Ko served as coaches.

            For Mocktail Mixing, Eisabella Joy R. Baleva won Silver, with Ms. Mary Angel D. Elacion as coach.

Franchezka A. De Roxas, Ma. Sophia Lorenz P. Aga, and Chandelle Abegail R. Silvestre won Silver for the Wedding Cake category. Mr. Kristian Kristoffer A. Roque and Ms. Maria Karmel Grace A. Labay served as coaches.

            For the Pasta and Sauce Showdown, Emilio Andres P. Aganinta and Sophia Isabelle V. Hernandez, with their coaches, Mr. Danillo P. Bustillos II and Ms. Ramona Olga D. Ko, won Bronze.

Patricia Beatrice D. Penoliar, and coach Mr. Elijah J. Coronado, won a Diploma for the Pralines category.
