UST CCWLS holds National Writers’ Workshop 2018;conducts outreach lecture at Benguet State University

The UST for Creative Writing and Literary Studies (UST CCWLS)
conducted the 2018 edition of its National Writers’ Workshop held from
March 18 to 25, 2018 at the Ridgewood Residence Hotel, Baguio City.
The writing fellows were: Arianne Patricia Onte (UPLB) and Karl Ivan Dan V. Orit (UST) for fiction in English; Paul Cyrian M. Baltazar (DLS-College of St. Benilde) and Keanu Harold G. Reyes (Bulacan State University) for fiction in Filipino; Hans Lawrence V. Malgapu (UST), Edmark T. Tan (UST, DLSU) and Vincen Gregory Yu (UP Manila) for poetry in English; Jose Socrates S. Delos Reyes (AdMU) for poetry in Filipino; Kristine Inez Q. Estioko (AdMU),
Riddick Matthew P. Recoter (DLSU) and Maria Gliceria L. Valdez (UP Mindanao, University of Southeastern Philippines) for creative nonfiction in English; Bayani M. Gabriel (Tarlac State University) for creative nonfiction in Filipino; Angelito G. Nambatac, Jr. (MSU-IIT) and Manuel Tinio (DLSU) for drama; and Kristine Nigel C. Santos (UST, UP) for screenplay.


The senior guest panelists of this year’s Workshop were UP University Professor Emeritus Gémino H. Abad, highly esteemed poet and literary critic; 2015 Southeast Asia (S.E.A. Write) Awardee Jerry B. Gracio, prize-winning poet and screenplay writer; and internationallypublished Filipino-American novelist and poet R. Zamora Linmark.

Members of the teaching panel during the outreach lecture Participants of the National Writers’ Workshop As part of the annual Workshop, CCWLS also conducts its Outreach Lecture Series. For this year, the outreach lecture
was conducted at the Benguet State University. Lecturers were: Pascual on
Popular Culture; Galán on Latin American Literature; Aguila on Fandom; and Delos Reyes on Social Media. Marfil served as Outreach Coordinator. The lecture was attended by faculty members and students.
