Twenty-three-story Senior High School building begins construction

Last October 23, 2017 (Monday), the site on which the twenty-three-story Senior High School building will rise, was blessed and dedicated to the Lord, in a Mass and Blessing Rites presided over by Rev. Fr. Winston F. Cabading, O.P., exorcist of the Archdiocese of Manila. Joining him were Rev. Fr. Dexter A. Austria, O.P., SThD, Director of the Facilities Management Office and inaugural Regent of the Senior High School (2016-2017), and Senior High School Assistant Regent Rev. Fr. George Phe Mung, O.P.

In his homily, Fr. Cabading emphasized that the work of “Dominicans and the University of Santo Tomas is for God’s glory.” Fr. Cabading said that the lot was being offered by the owners to the Lord, so that whatever forms of defilement done by non-owners will not harm it. Following the Mass, exorcism prayers and rites were performed, in which Fr. Cabading led in the breaking of all bonds of evil ensnaring the place. The sprinkling of holy water, pouring of sacred oil, and incensing was also done in the lot.

The new Senior High School building will stand on the site of the old Doña Isabel Building. It will house UST’s Grade 11 and Grade 12 students, who will enjoy the facilities of classrooms, science and computer laboratories, a two-storey library, auditoria, a canteen, and a parking lot, among others. A connecting walkway will be built to facilitate the easy and safe transfer from the main campus to the new building.

The new edifice is expected to be completed in 2019.
