The Aquinian bags recognition in Manila Times Campus Press Awards 2019

The Aquinian, the official news publication of the UST Junior High School, was deemed the Best Newspaper in the third Manila Times Campus Press Awards 2019 on February 18, 2020 at Savoy Hotel, Newport City, Pasay City.

Meanwhile, Althea Loyse Lino and Janssel Carylle Rigor’s piece entitled “Unforeseen Threat: Mosquito-borne disease affects UST JHS” was adjudged the Best News Story; while Bienvenido Jesus Castro III bagged the Best Editorial Story for his piece entitled “Homework: An Advantage Rather Than An Adversary”; and Aaron Gabriel Jalata bagged the Best Editorial Cartoon for his visual work that tackled dengue.

The entries must have been published between January 2, 2019 and December 15, 2019.

The written works were appraised for its newsworthiness, level of difficulty, grammar, style, flair, and composition structures; while the visual works were judged for its style, visual appeal, flair, and composition structure.

The Manila Times Campus Press Awards, organized by the Manila Times and the Manila Times College, aimed to recognize and to inspire talented and promising journalists who play an important role in sustaining growth of country’s democracy.
