UST Sentro sa Salin at Araling Salin gathered experts from various fields in the University in SalinTomas 2022 to mark the celebration of International Translation Day on September 30, 2022.

SalinTomas 2022 with the theme,  “Online Forum sa Mga Hamon, Oportunidad, at Direksiyon ng Pagsasalin at Araling Salin sa Unibersidad ng Santo Tomas”, mapped the fields of translation as an academic discipline and professional industry.

The online forum also aimed to document the Thomasian experiences as translators and researchers of the subject of translation towards more effective translation professionalization programs at the University.

UST Sentro sa Salin Chair Assoc. Prof. Wennielyn F. Fajilan, Ph.D., led the panel of authorities in their fields, composed of Dr. Minerva Calimag (Medicine), Dr. Chuckberry Pascual (Literature), Mr. Leo Martin Angelo R. Ocampo (Religion), Prof. Kathleen Cruzada (Nutrition), Prof. Anthony James Bautista (Engineering), and Mr. Adrian Romero (Simbahayan).

The international theme this year is “A World Without Barriers.”

Researchers in the field of Translation Studies, instructors and students of Pagsasalin, and advocates of language and translation attended the event.

UST Sentro sa Salin at Araling Salin is known as the first university-hosted translation studies institution in the country.
