Regala of Advertising wins Deeper Perspective Photographer of the Year award from IPA Philippines

Mr. John Evan Dominic D. Regala of the Department of Advertising Arts of the College of Fine Arts and Design is the 2017 Deeper Perspective Photographer of the Year for International Photography Awards – Philippines, which billed Regala as the winner for the said category in its country-wide competition.

Regala, went to a small barangay located in Lucena City, Quezon where he met the thirteen year-old boy who became the subject of his winning piece entitled, “Hunger.” His award-winning photo aimed to present hunger as one of the biggest global challenges faced in the Philippines today.

According to the Facebook post of IPA-Philippines, “an international jury of renowned photography experts” vetted the entries, and the winners will have their works submitted as finalists for the top IPA prize, to be presented at the Lucie Awards on October 29, 2017 at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York.

The International Photography Awards is an annual competition for professional, non-professional, and student photographers on a global scale, creating one of the most ambitious and comprehensive competitions in the photography world today.
