Ramos, Iguid of EdTech present in EduTech Asia 2016

Two e-Learning Specialists represented the University of Santo Tomas in the 2016 EduTech Asia, the largest educational technology event in the Asia-Pacific Region which attracted 2,000 educators, educational institutions, and technology providers. The event took place from November 9-10, 2016, in Suntec Convention Centre in Singapore.

The UST delegation consisted of Asst. Prof. Anna Cherylle M. Ramos, MSc, Educational Technology Center (EdTech) Director and an assistant professor for the EdTech courses at the College of Education, and Ms. Christy Iguid, e-Learning Specialist of the UST Junior High School.

Asst. Prof. Ramos was one of the guest speakers under the Higher Education – Fostering 21st Century Track. She discussed how digital instruction should change to prepare students’ success for the 21st century. Her talk centered on the factors that assure success in student and team-centric approaches to technology integration that facilitates attainment of 4 big skills of digital learners – collaboration, critical thinking, creative thinking and communication.­­­­­

Ms. Iguid was in the K-12 track to enable the Junior High School ICT implementation to move forward in terms of institutional awareness of the latest and emerging digital learning trends. She also participated in roundtable discussion to exchange ideas with other el-earning specialists on relevant digital technology issues applicable to UST JHS.

The annual conference is comprised of “inspirational keynotes from across the world, pioneering educators already changing education in their classrooms and technology leaders from education and innovative technology companies.”

Other than the conference, exhibitions were also displayed to showcase the latest products in educational technology innovation. Exhibited were holograms, 3D, Virtual Reality and Mixed reality technologies as well as maker technology among others.

The 2017 EduTech Philippines is slated on February 21 to 22, 2017 at the SMX Convention Center, Manila, in which Asst. Prof. Ramos is also invited as speaker and is advisory board council member.
