SAMANIEGO, Marvin L.

SAMANIEGO, Marvin L.

Asst. Prof. Marvin Samaniego is a faculty member of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Santo Tomas and a PhD candidate in Environmental Engineering at the University of the Philippines Diliman under the DOST-ERDT scholarship. He currently serves as Supervisor of the Engineering Pre-Major Year Collaborative (EPYC) Program at the UST Faculty of Engineering.

He previously held academic and research positions at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (2013–2016), the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom as a visiting postgraduate researcher (2018–2019), and Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science in Taiwan as a visiting scholar (2012). He earned his BS Materials Engineering (cum laude, 2009) and MS Environmental Engineering (2013) from UP Diliman.

His research focuses on sustainable bioplastics, cultural heritage conservation through material characterization, and innovative technologies for water and wastewater treatment. By bridging materials science and environmental engineering, his work contributes to sustainability, environmental protection, and the preservation of cultural heritage.
