Prof. John Donnie A. Ramos, Ph.D., was a recipient of the Prize for Young Scientist in the Philippines from The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in 2010, and the Outstanding Young Scientist Award in Molecular Biology/ Immunology from the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) in 2005. Dr. Ramos was appointed for two terms as the dean of the University of Santo Tomas College of Science from 2013-2019. He was elected as the president Biology Teachers Association (BIOTA) of the Philippines (2019-2021), and the president of the Philippine Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (PSBMB) from 2014-2015. Dr. Ramos is an international assessor of the ASEAN Universities Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) and a member of the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) Technical Panel for Biology and Molecular Biology. His research interests include molecular cloning, recombinant protein expression and immunological characterization of allergens, and the elucidation of immuno-pathological and genetic mechanisms of allergic diseases. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed ISI/Scopus-indexed scientific papers. He is the coordinator and author of Exploring Life Through Science, a series of junior and senior high school textbooks, laboratory manuals and teacher’s guide. Dr. Ramos received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Molecular Biology from the National University of Singapore as a research scholar. Currently, he holds a rank of full professor in Molecular Biology, Genetics and Immunology University of Santo Tomas.
