Assistant Professor Flordeluna Zapata Mesina, MD, MSc, FPCP, FPCHTM, contributes significantly to the field of medicine as a faculty member in the Department of Pharmacology and Department of Medicine at UST Faculty of Medicine & Surgery. With key administrative roles, Dr. Mesina serves as the Chief Program Officer for Continuing Medical Education (CME) at USTFMS, showcasing her commitment to professional development. Additionally, she holds the position of vice president at the Philippine College of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine (PCHTM) and Chief Program Officer at the USTFMS Office of Continuing Medical Education. Dr. Mesina’s scholarly focus extends to Hematology, Myeloproliferative Neoplasms, and Clinical Epidemiology. Her academic journey includes a Master’s of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of the Philippines-Manila, a Fellowship in Clinical Hematology at UST Hospital, and a Residency in Internal Medicine at UST Hospital. Acknowledging her excellence, Dr. Mesina received the Most Outstanding Fellow award at UST Hospital in 2015 and was recognized as the Most Outstanding Resident by the Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) in 2012. She maintains professional affiliations as a Fellow in the Philippine College of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine and a Life Member of the Philippine College of Physicians. - Dr. Mesina is a clinical researcher in multiple areas in hematology including blood cancers with special interest on myeloproliferative neoplasms, multiple myeloma and AML/MDS.
