Philippiniana Sacra welcomes second half-century with index of first fifty years

The Philippiniana Sacra, first published in 1966, began its journey to its 51st year with a 50-year index of all issues from 1966 – 2016. The index, done by associate editor and historian Fr. Louie R. Coronel, O.P., HEL, contains the Editorial, Author, Title, Reference, Subject, and Book Review indexes, as well as Appendices that contain a timeline of Ecclesiastical and Civil events, special issues, and past editors, among others.

In his foreword, Fr. Coronel noted that after fifty years, the journal, which has been UST’s “humble contribution…in the scientific study of Theology, Philosophy, and Canon Law in the Philippines and in the rest of the world,” has continued the original mission of Sacra, as conceived by its first editor, Rev. Fr. Excelso Garcia, O.P. Fr. Garcia, in the first issue said Sacra’s mission is “providing scholarly research in the fields of ecclesiastical disciplines, authoritative comments on kindred matters, weighty contributions to the doctrinal heritage of the Philippines, [and] critical studies of the diverse problems assailing the religious world.”
