Peralta completes KTTO Training Program

Assoc. Prof. Michael Jorge N. Peralta, Executive Assistant for Intellectual Property & Research, and the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) Manager, has successfully completed five (5) modules of the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Offices (KTTO) Training Program that was provided by the United States Agency International Development (USAID) Science, Technology, Research and Innovation for Development (STRIDE) and RTI International. The objective is to develop and empower, in a holistic and comprehensive manner, existing Innovation and Technology Support Offices (ITSOs) in IP management and Technology transfer.

Module I is the PLAN Module which tackled about the setting up of the KTTO and establishing its mission, vision, goals, and objectives. It likewise includes the tactics and specific activities to achieve the set goals and communicating it to all stakeholders. Module II is the OPERATIONALIZE Module, where matters like organization, policy development, process crafting, data management and filing, and establishing metrics were discussed. Module III is the LEARN Module, where establishing networks and links, identifying industry’s needs, structuring engagements, project management, and nurturing relationships were conferred. Module IV is the CONNECT Module, where IP Management came in particularly matters on IP asset prioritization, investigating market trends, analyzing IP landscapes, promoting university-generated technologies, negotiating licensing agreements, and cultivating established links. Module V is the DO Module, where the role of the KTTO-ITSO and Start Up companies was discussed.

It also included the philosophy of Design Thinking, establishing Business Model Canvasses, the fundamentals of Lean Start Up, and the Start Up ecosystem for the KTTO-ITSO to be able to support technology transfer initiatives.   The program lasted for two years and culminated with a simple commencement ceremony last October 6, 2016 at the Makati Diamond Residences, in Makati City.
