OVRRI, ITSO participate in USAID-STRIDE forum

The Office of the Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation and the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) participated in the SYNERGY 2016, A Science and Technology Innovation Forum organized by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Science, Technology, Research, and Innovation for Development (STRIDE) with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPhl) last September 21 & 22, 2016 at the Shangri-la The Fort, Taguig City. The objectives are to (1) increase and improve technology transfer activity of Philippine universities; and (2) forge connections and links between academe and industry.

The University delegates were: Prof. Maribel Nonato, Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation; A/Prof. Michael Peralta, Executive Assistant for IP & Research and ITSO Manager; Prof. Alice Aguinaldo, Patent searcher in the Sciences; A/Prof. Lourdes Baldelomar, Patent searcher in Engineering; A/Prof. Ronaldo Cabauatan, ITSO Economist; Mr. Jackson Tan, ITSO Entrepreneur; and Mr. Christopher Purugganan, ITSO Staff.

The sessions focused on valuing creativity in the universities, harnessing them and intensifying innovation to solve industry’s challenges for society’s benefit. The presence of ITSOs in universities gives a strategic position for intellectual property to be protected and moved forward to the market through technology transfer
