Occupational Therapy mentors serve as speakers at PAOT Annual Convention


Three faculty members from the Occupational Therapy (OT) Department
of the College of Rehabilitation Sciences were speakers during the 52nd Annual Convention of the Philippine Academy of Occupational Therapists, Inc. (PAOT) held from November 29 to 30, 2017 at the Century Park Hotel, Manila.

There were also parallel sessions and oral research presentations on emerging practice areas. The topics were anchored on this year’s theme, “Pagbabago: Towards Transformative Practice.”

Asst. Prof. Karen Ongtangco talked about “Inclusive Education and
the Role of the OT,” while, Mr. Kim Gerald Medallon presented a topic
titled, “Outcome-based Clinical Education in OT.” Mr. Charles Bermejo
presented “The Revisions of the UST NSTP Disaster Risk Reduction
and Management Module towards Disability Inclusiveness from the
Perspectives of Stakeholders and Experts,” together with Ms. Renelle
Villareal.

The event paved the way for the ratification of the academy’s
position statement on institution and governance of chapters and
occupational therapy aide positions. Awards were given to professionals
for their exemplary contribution in the field of education and research, and
extension service.
