Music holds Piano, Voice Masterclasses, stages concerts

The First Term of Academic Year 2016-2017 for the Conservatory of Music was filled with activities that included concerts that showcased the talents of its students, masterclasses given by world-renowned artists to impart wisdom on performance and technique, and a research symposium conducted by faculty members and guest researchers.

The activities were:

— Universal Space and Time: A Musical Journey, a concert by the UST Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Mr. Jeffrey Solares, was held on October 2, 2016 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Main Theater, with Fr. Manuel Maramba, OSB, as featured artist;

— Kay Ganda ng Ating Musika, an all-Original Pilipino Music concert by the UST Woodwind Ensemble under the baton of Jedrick Itugot, was held on October 25, 2016 at the Albertus Magnus Auditorium that, featured soloists Glenn Aquias, cello, and Demie Fresco, soprano; — A piano masterclass was given by Maestro Fermo Roscigno, an Italian pianist, in cooperation with the Italian Embassy, was held on November 8, 2016 at the Recital Hall 2 of the Conservatory of Music.

— A flute and recorder masterclass was given by Ms. Tali Rubinstein in cooperation with the Israeli Embassy, also held on November 8, 2016 at Recital Hall 1;

— A voice masterclass was given by Japanese soprano Miyako Shimizu, on November 14, 2016 held at Recital Hall 2 of the Conservatory of Music; and — Intersections: A Symposium on Music, Culture and the Making of Filipino Society, was held on November 14, 2016 at the Recital Hall 2 of the Conservatory of Music, that featured the research works by Asst. Prof. Cynthia Afable, Assoc. Prof. Maria Alexandra Chua, Assoc. Prof. Renato Lucas, and guest researcher Asst. Prof. David Kendall, PhD.
