Faculty of Arts and Letters and Department of English academic staff Assoc. Prof. Rosalyn G. Mirasol, Ph.D., was elected president of the Reading Association of the Philippines (RAP) from 2022 to 2023. The election was held during the National Demofest from November 24 to 25, 2022, at the Sorsogon Provincial Stadium. The said Demofest was attended by more than 750 teachers all over the country.
The Reading Association of the Philippines, a national affiliate of the International Literacy Association (ILA) based in Delaware, United States of America, is a professional association of reading educators, teachers, advocates, and parents. Its mission is to improve all aspects of the national reading programs and teaching pedagogy through teacher-training, upskilling, and research.
Mirasol, an academic researcher at the Research Center for Social Sciences and Education, was the country representative to the International Development in Asia Committee of ILA.
She and Dr. Marie Grace Reoperez, RAP Secretary from 2021-2022, were the lead persons in the project proposal “Kape, Basa, Pag-asa.” This project has won funding from the ILA Global Committee.
