MedTech students bring home plums in PHISMETS contests

On March 6, 2020, students from the Department of Medical Technology brought honor to the University by winning the PHISMETS Lab Olympics, held at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Theater. The UST contingent brought home the gold in all categories of the competition.

The winners and their respective contests were:

  • Clinical Microscopy: Janz Renee Marius M. Vivo and Isabella D.S. Cruz
  • Histology / Histopathology: Ashley Brianna H. Peralta and Micah Louise Julio Rivero
  • Hematology: Patricia Anne Gabrielle R. Rollom and Clyde C. Cledera
  • Parasitology: Vincent Gerard T. Ferriols and Rupert Stephen Charles S. Chua

The victories likewise gave UST the Championship for the event.

Serving as coaches for the students were Assoc. Prof. Rowen Yolo, MD, Asst. Prof. Alvin Rey Flores, Asst. Prof. Ron Christian Sison, MS, Mr. Clarenz Concepcion, and Ms. Diana Leah Mendoza. Advising the students were Asst. Prof. Ma. Gina Sadang (Medical Technology Internship Coordinator), Mr. Benjie Clemente, Asst. Prof. Vivian Asuncion, and Medical Technology Department Chair Edilberto P. Manahan, PhD.
