The Faculty of Medicine and Surgery opened its Medicine Awareness week with ribbon-cutting ceremonies on January 23, 2017 at the St. Martin de Porres Building.
Regent Rev. Fr. Angel Aparicio, OP, and the new Dean, Assistant Professor Ma. Lourdes Maglinao, MD, led the opening ceremonies with Medicine students.
In her message, Maglinao encouraged the aspiring students in the field of medicine not only to showcase their talents but also to also uplift their plight and share their knowledge. “It is a humble way of contributing to the recollection of the roots, milestones, and accomplishments in the science of medicine here and across the globe,” Maglinao said.
Medicine Awareness Week aims to promote a deeper sense of solidarity, maturity and social responsibilities through activities.
Medicine Student Council Public Relations Officer Derek Clutario said the goal of Medicine week is not only to have “fun” but also to show that students also have talents in different fields despite their hectic schedules.
“Marami ritong students na may part-time jobs: day jobs and night jobs, mga gig at iba pang sidelines. Gusto naming maipakita na may nakaka-appreciate ng mga effort at hardwork nila,” Clutario said.
